Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM)

Forms of treatment that are used in addition to (complementary) or instead of (alternative) standard treatments. These practices generally are not considered conventional medical approaches. CAM may include dietary supplements, megadose vitamins, herbal preparations, special teas, acupuncture, massage therapy, magnet therapy, spiritual healing, and meditation.

Conventional Medicine
A system in which medical doctors and other healthcare professionals (such as nurses, pharmacists, and therapists) treat symptoms and diseases using drugs, radiation, or surgery. Also called Western medicine, mainstream medicine, orthodox medicine, biomedicine, and allopathic medicine.

Feldenkrais Method
The Feldenkrais Method allow people, of any age or ability, the opportunity to relearn and discover improved uses of your body in basic everyday movements. By using easy-to-do gentle movements, primarily in a sitting or lying position, you learn to release unnecessary tension, regardless of limitations or injuries. Improvements increase your range of motion, balance and flexibility.

Hyperlipidemia (High blood cholesterol)
Hyperlipidemia is an elevation of lipids (fats) in the bloodstream. These lipids include cholesterol, cholesterol esters (compounds), phospholipids and triglycerides. They're transported in the blood as part of large molecules called lipoproteins.

Hypertension
Commonly referred to as "high blood pressure", is a medical condition in which the blood pressure is chronically elevated

Shiatsu
Shiatsu is a form of Asian Bodywork that balances the energy in our body/minds. This practice comes from the Eastern medical tradition that understands dis-ease as stemming from imbalances in the electro-magnetic currents coursing through our bodies. During a session these currents are manipulated by gentle pressure applied with hands or fingers on particular points of the body, the same points used by acupuncturists. People generally experience a session that is relaxing and invigorating.
