Parents Are Teachers Too, P.A.T.T. (1-800-492-5550 or locally: 667-5304 Ext. 225)
is a home-visiting program offering information and support to first-time parents of all ages and income levels in Hancock County. The program begins during pregnancy or shortly after the baby's birth. P.A.T.T. is based on two beliefs:

  1. The first years of life provide the foundation for all future experiences
  2. Parents are the most important teachers their children will ever have.

During the first few years of life, your child will learn and develop faster than at any other time. As a parent, you can give your child the kinds of early experiences that will help him or her to grow and develop in the healthiest possible way.

During visits to your home, you will receive information on
  • Having a healthy pregnancy
  • Fetal development
  • Preparing for your baby's arrival
  • Labor and delivery
  • Infant care and feeding
  • Child development (what to expect and how to help your baby learn)
  • Using books with babies and toddlers
  • Other community resources available to families
